3 Things you should NOT write about in your Public BLOG

For a lot of bloggers, maintaining a blog is quite similar to maintaining a personal journal online. In many ways, this can be viewed as harmless. But is it really safe to place all your thoughts in your blog? Especially for publicly readable blogs, it is advisable that you keep certain topics away from a Internet Users eyes. Here are some of things you should NOT be putting your blog.
- Personal Rants about your current employment - this include your current supervisor, colleagues or the company where you work in. Some would claim that its a free Internet world, but you will NEVER know who would end up reading your blog. Besides, I have some friends who claim that some companies do an Internet background check on prospective employees and one of these are the blogs.
- Personal Schedule of Activities - it would be nice to place your schedule on your website you can always check on it but it can also be a way to “cyberstalk” you. If your paranoid about people tracking you down then you might as well keep your schedule of your blog and place it some calendaring service like Google Calendar.
- Copyrighted Materials - Well this goes practically without saying. Ideally you should never post files of such things like programs you know are not free / public domain or anything that encourages copyright infringement these include cracks, serial keys etc.
Granted that you will always argue about free speech, it goes without saying that with great speaking power comes great speaking responsibility. And it would also do you good in the long run.
